IN 1977 he took from his playing and retired. After retirement, Brown worked as a Non-playing coach from Port Melbourne in 1978. Late he also worked as the Inaugural VFA coach back in the 1980s in the incarnation of MFC in 1983 which is also known as the Moorabbin football club. He won the Best and fairest award in 1965, a team of the century award, and the Victorian representative award 8 times.
